Runway Report: Halston Heritage | New York Spring 2015 RTW

Halston Heritage Spring 2015 RTW

I think the last part of the name says it all. Miriam Webster defines heritage as “something that is transmitted by, or acquired from, the predecessor; a legacy and inheritance”. I think that the most recent Creative Director at Halston, Marie Mazelis, understands what the job of transmitting Roy Halston Frowick’s legacy entails. The shapes are modern interpretations of his most successful 70’s designs; this can be seen in the sleek flowing column dresses, necklines, and caftans. It is the jersey and silk fabric’s beautiful and very fluid quality, which evokes luxury and ease. The metal: belts, back detail of a shirt, and jewelry are all a nod to his one of his most interesting collaborations with Elsa Perretti.
