Runway Report: Mary Katrantzou | London Fall 2014 RTW

Now that many Designers are using digital photo printed fabric, Mary Katrantzou has decided to abandon it. Even though this was her signature, this collection is still filled with visual symbols, less literal than photos.

This collection goes from Maxi to Mini skirts, yet the tone of the garment is still the same.  This is what Morgane Le Fay and Guinevere would wear in a modern day version of the Arthurian tale, directed by Baz Luhrman. I was entranced by the Pagan High Priestesses’ Maxi dresses, whose patterned patchwork was reminiscent of Gustav Klimt. The intricate detailing comprised of patches of symbols when sewn together made the most visually interesting compositions.
